A newly introduced 1watt single output PCB mounted DC-DC converter introduced by Murata Power Solutions is now available from TTI, Inc. The company’s MEE1 series converter is well suited to applications that require an isolated low-power distributed supply such as industrial, automation and instrumentation. These devices are available in a variety of models accommodating nominal input voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, or 24 VDC and with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12 or 15 VDC.
The MEE1 efficiency of these devices is said to have been increased by up to 8 percent with a typical efficiency range of 76 – 86 percent depending on output voltage.
Load regulation has also been significantly improved and is now as said to be as low as 3percent across the load rate of 10 to 100 percent for the 24 VDC input/15 VDC output model, MEE1S2415SC. Isolation is 1 kVDC.
Availability of these devices extends to the industry standard SIP 4-pin and DIP 8-pin pinout formats, depending on space avilabiity. They are described as an ideal pin-compatible drop-in replacement for updating older designs without the need for any PCB changes.
Isolation of the devices allows the converter to be configured to provide an isolated negative rail in systems where only a positive rail exists. Safety certification to the internationally recognised specification UL60950 is currently pending.
The series can operate at full output power across a wide range of temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees C making it suitable for use in most operating environments
