High performance solid state drives (SSDs) from Intel are now available from Mouser Electronics.
Described as a high performance hard drive alternative for boosting laptop and desktop PCs capability, the Intel SSDs are claimed to be 50 percent faster, 60 percent more durable, and are said to use 20 percent less power compared to conventional computer hard drives.
The SSDs are packed with features such as improved performance, reliability, and battery life. The company advises this latest 530 Series SSDs target consumer desktops and laptops, provide a small form factor, low cost of operation, and low idle power.
SSDs such as these are continuing to evolve as new consumer platforms emerge, not just for traditional desktops and laptops but also for Ultrabooks, tablets, and tomorrow’s small form factor mobile systems.
This latest series from Intel join the next generation of SSDs, targeting data centres and combining consistently fast read/write performance with the strong data protection of leading edge 20nm Flash memory technology. The devices can process data at a rapid pace, with consistently low latencies and high data throughput.
Intel points out that all of its Solid State Drives have a 6.0Gb/sec SATA interface and are totally silent in operation while offering advanced protection from impact and vibration. 256 bit hardware encryption secures sensitive data. SSD drive capacities of up to 800GB are available.
