Oracle Components Ltd are lucky enough to be involved with a football team, OracleFC and on the 30th of April a curious email arrived in one of our mailboxes from the Time Out magazine, on the face of it – it didn’t look real – it stated that we had won a place for our sponsored football club to play in a tournament at the Emirates stadium. From over a thousand entries our team had been drawn to play against other teams: North Acton FC and Flatwick Gooners FC.

We were cordially invited to compete at the tournament against the other sides, mentioned above and a side comprising of some of the “Sporty” staff from the Time Out offices on the forthcoming Friday at the Emirates Stadium. Needless to say it was a very exciting prospect for Oracle Components FC to be given a chance to play on such a pitch and to be given an access all area’s pass to the ground.

On the day our first game was against North Acton FC who put up a decent fight but Oracle Components FC managed to sneak two goal’s past their keeper to bag our first win of the day 2 – 0.

Our second game was against Flatwick Gooners FC whom we had a more convincing win 5 – 0.

Our last game of the stage was against the Time Out side and they fared no better than Flatwick Gooners FC who also ceded defeat 5 – 0.

Having won all three games Oracle Components FC were guaranteed a place in the final verses the next best performing team, whom in this case had been our first adversaries North Acton FC.

In what would be a tighter game Oracle Components FC took the lead with the first and only goal of the match and in doing so won the tournament.

Later that day Oracle Components FC was presented with the Inaugural Emirates Timeout Cup – well done lads! A special mention goes out to Oracle Components top scorer Azeka Defoe who bagged us 5 goals! And equal words of commendation must go to Graeme Wiggs our goalkeeper who managed to keep a clean sheet throughout the day!

In winning the cup the team was awarded a 13 seat hospitality box to any home Arsenal game in the 13/14 season and it is hoped an opportunity to defend the cup next year!

Just like their namesake Oracle Components Ltd likes to have a winning team and to shout from the roof tops it’s successes, since 2004 when we first set out we’ve steadily grown and won more and more loyal customers who value our ability to help them succeed when no one else could. And as the old adage goes we like to work hard and we like to play hard.

Special thanks must go out to Emirates who sponsored the Cup, Time Out for organizing it, the other clubs who we played against, and to Arsenal FC as our gracious hosts, and of course special thanks to Oracle FC, for doing what they do best, WINNING.
