The HCS offers power ratings up to 10W up to 100 degree C, where many sense resistors are only rated for full power operation up to 70 degree C.

The raised resistance element improves the thermal footprint of the device and decreases PCB and terminal temperature. HCS resistance values as low as 0.2 milliohm ensure the high efficiency sensing in a surface mountable package. The all metal construction also provides very high pulse withstanding as well as the potential for operation up to 170 degree C instead of 155 degree C.
