Managing Director John Dignan told Enterprising Scotland: “I joined in 2005 at a time when we increased our focus on electronic manufacturing services business. In an environment where PCBA is a commodity Dynamic EMS focussed on its service offering. This offering being underpineed by our greatest asset, our people. There is very much a family feel to the organisation, and this is reflected in the way we build face to face relationships with our customers.

“The people in our company have given an average service of 18 years and we have a loyal and flexible workforce. It’s the wrap around service that attracts people and differentiates us from others in our sector.”

He continued: “We look to provide industry leading response times, flexibility, adaptability and material supply chain strategies providing dynamic business solutions that are developed to meet the end market demand of the customer, whilst minimizing risk.

So from front end to back end we are procuring electronic components on a global basis. We’re bringing those components in and we’re populating them into PCBs or final systems. We are providing logistics solutions in terms of configure to order, build to order and direct order fulfilment, utilising such methodologies as Kanban, Faxban ensuring we meet our on time delivery commits to our customer.

John added: “The whole supply chain is key. We are developing unique value propositions, sometimes as unique as some of the customers themselves. We deliver a unified supply chain that’s adaptive, responsive to continuous change, assisting our customers to stay ahead in a ‘Dynamic World’ that is increasingly competitive. We look to provide optimized communication between our strategic suppliers, ourselves and the customer.  The key to that is delivering products our customers need when they need them.”

The company can tailor its services to meet customers’ specific requirements. It can ship from stock, provide consignment stock (pay for on use) distribute the product worldwide or sell to clients under normal trading conditions: whatever method best suits the management of a customer’s assets.

Dynamic EMS believes that only those electronic manufacturing service companies that consistently meet and exceed high performance and product quality, and product reliabilty will survive.

It has recognised the need to tailor its processes and controls to meet the demands of the industry sectors which it supports. All processes throughout the company are covered within the scope of the BS EN ISO 9001 accreditation but where required, a quality plan can be agreed with customers to cover their particular needs.

Materials management

Material sourcing, procurement and inventory management is crucial in meeting customer required delivery dates and, within the electronics sector, with the variety of components and various suppliers involved, it is a critical factor.  Dynamic EMS Materials Group uses the approach that best suits a client’s business needs in all aspects of supplier selection and supply chain management.

•     Material Sourcing and Procurement

•     Supply Chain Management

•     Component selection

•     Inventory Management

•     Component Obsolescence

•     Lead-time Profiling.

When asked about the company’s strategy for continued success, John said:

“We have been developing a diversified market sector approach, which is very much niche orientated in developing niches in technology and market segmentation from a sales perspective. We are identifying opportunities and aligning with companies that not only have got leading edge technology but have synergistic strategies.”

“And we will continue listening to the market place.  When we get to the early supplier stage and have identified a prospect and have started to engage with them it is all about flexibility and adaptability through the complete value stream from procurement to shipping.  We engage with companies that are looking for a safe pair of hands.”

He added: “The loyalty of our customers has been exemplary; we have customers that have been with us for over 13 years.  When we have them under our belts we tend to service them to death, because value is in the eye of the beholder and service is everything.”
