MMS Electronics Ltd has now available EA DOGXL160-7 graphic display with a 160 x 104 pixel resolution (3.3”) and high contrast STN and FSTN technology. The EA DOGXL160-7 display can accommodate up to 13 lines of 26 characters each in normal type font or 6 lines of 20 characters in a large font. Each pixel is controlled separately. The EA DOGXL160-7 is available in many variants to suit most designs.
Five combinations of display glass are available. The display glass can be combined with seven different backlights (white, yellow/green, blue, red, amber, green and RGB). The RGB backlight supports the entire color spectrum.
The displays feature UC1610 integrated graphics controller and graphics RAM. Developers can choose from four serial interfaces to connect to the outside world – a 4 or 3 wire SPI and 2-wire I2C. In 2-wire I2C mode, one of two base addresses can be set so that two displays can be operated using a single I2C bus.
The display operates from a single power supply of 2.6 to 3.3 volts, whereby a load of only 700 microA is placed on the network. When the LED backlight is used current can be as low as 10 to 150 mA, depending on the type of backlight selected. The display can be soldered directly into the circuit board or used with a 2.54mm pitch socket.
The EA DOGXL160-7 displays are very compact (78 x 64 mm space is sufficient) and still only 6.5 mm tall when the LED backlight fitted. An operating temperature range of -20 to +70 °C makes the displays compatible with many applications in the industrial and medical sectors.
For all displays a 4 wire analogue touch-screen is available. A simulator tool with USB demo board available to help the choice of display and speed up evaluation.
A complete line of accessories is available to help developers. This includes a USB demo board for connecting to Windows PCs, a touch panel with analog 4-wire interface and font editor software. With the font editor Cyrillic, Greek, or Arabic character sets can be imported from Windows fonts.
