The first certified batteries for electric vehicles “made in Slovakia” come from the InoBat factory in Voderady, which opened in 2024. Zumtobel has equipped this manufacturing and innovation facility with a long-lasting lighting solution that creates an optimal working environment with low maintenance requirements.

InoBat, headquartered in the Slovakian capital Bratislava, manufactures customised battery solutions for OEMs – a key technology for the future of mobility. InoBat has built a battery production site in the municipality of Voderardy, research and development under the direction of general contractor Takenaka Europe in 2024. The industrial construction specialist brought a proven partner on board to provide the lighting for the first battery cell production facility of its kind in Slovakia. “Based on our experience with InoBat, we were able to further develop our CLEAN luminaire. It is now the first luminaire on the market certified for dry cleanrooms,” said Clemens Neuner, application management industry at Zumtobel. In addition, Zumtobel also provided general and emergency lighting for the plant in Voderady. Zumtobel’s sister brand Thorn was commissioned to illuminate the wet and dry laboratories, changing rooms and corridors. “With our wide-ranging portfolio, we were very well prepared to illuminate the various rooms at InoBat – laboratories, research facilities and traditional offices,” said Peter Mišík, country manager Slovakia at Zumtobel. “The company attaches great importance to the health and well-being of its employees. Lighting quality and an excellent working environment therefore played a major role in the project.”

The robust CRAFT II plus LED high bay luminaires provide up to 50,000 lumens of light in the packaging and distribution centre of InoBat in Voderady. They reliably withstand mechanical and chemical stresses and, thanks to their innovative thermal management, are particularly durable in environments with extreme temperatures.

A fusion of functionality and elegance

In the open-plan offices at the new InoBat site, the TECTON MIREL continuous-row lighting system from Zumtobel demonstrates how aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand in a wide variety of office environments. The black housings blend organically into the open office ceilings with exposed pipes, creating an industrial, modern look. This theme is continued in the foyer. TECTON continuous-row lighting systems with MIREL luminaires and PANOS downlights welcome visitors and employees alike. To ensure safe orientation in every situation, the entire site is equipped with Zumtobel CROSSIGN safety sign luminaires. Thanks to Zumtobel RESCLITE emergency lighting in all indoor and outdoor areas, escape routes are clearly visible at all times.

Two partners, shared values

“Lighting clean rooms in battery cell production is a challenge, for example due to extremely dry environmental conditions. Together with the Slovakian branch of the general contractor Takenaka Europe, we were able to provide InoBat with lighting solutions perfectly tailored to the requirements there, as well as in the other rooms,” said Clemens Neuner. “Takenaka Europe has extensive experience with construction projects in the automotive industry, which is why we complemented each other perfectly on this project – not only in terms of general lighting, but also emergency lighting.” The collaboration between the two partners, who share common values such as product quality and excellent service, went so well that Takenaka Europe has already invited the Zumtobel Group to participate in follow-up projects in the automotive industry. “This is an important sign that we are doing good work together,” summed up Peter Mišík
