Addressing the need for a compact, competitively priced low profile beacon, Switchtec’s STX range of xenon beacon from SCL meet the high demands of control panel manufacturers and those in the field of factory automation. Such customers are driving the demand for smaller, more efficient, more compact beacons, having a range of outputs, offering ease of installation and good quality construction. This is why SCL has developed the STX series of xenon beacons to address this ‘hole’ in the marketplace.

Designed to offer flexibility to the installer, the STX beacons can be installed either surface mounted using the fixing plate supplied with the beacon, or panel mounted using the two mounting studs and nuts provided.

STX xenon beacons have been designed to produce an optimum level of output but with compact physical dimensions of 76mm diameter, with a height of 49mm panel mounted, or 65mm for surface mounted.

Exhibiting versatility and for use in a variety of applications, the STX xenon beacons are available in two voltage versions, STX-24DA which will operate from 10V to 28V AC or DC and the STX-230A which will operate from 115V to 240VAC.

Offering ease of wiring, again the STX xenon beacons have been designed with the installer in mind. In fact, the beacons are supplied prewired and ready to install. The beacons have 550mm connection cables, coloured red and black for the low voltage units and brown and blue for the high voltage units.

Lens colours available are blue, amber, red, green and clear, and beacons are fitted with a xenon tube that delivers a bright, ‘eye catching’ 1.5 – 2.5 Joules output with a flash rate of once per second.

Dust tight and able to withstand water jets applied from any direction, STX beacons have an Ingress protection rating of IP65. Further, units are supplied with a foam gasket to be used during installation to further maintain the IP rating of any panel or product that the beacon is mounted on or to. Due to this high level of ingress protection STX beacons can safely be installed inside and or outside as fully weatherproof units.

During the design phase of the STX beacons, and using feedback from its field sales staff, Switchtec looked closely at customers’ requirements. The unit had to be compact and easy to install yet have installation flexibility. It needed to be multi voltage to keep stock holding at a minimum, and have a xenon tube to give a high level output at a competitive price. All of these points were addressed during design, and the STX range meets all of these requirements.
