Craft Data are pleased to introduce the latest additions to their panel mount sometimes referred to as embedded or rack mount range of silent, direct thermal printers from their long-term partner Woosim Systems. Established in 1994 Woosim have been at the forefront of the design and manufacture of compact thermal printers from simple mechanisms through to portable/mobile options and have been partnering Craft Data since early 2000. These new ultra-compact clamshell design 2” WSP-CP261 and 281 and the 3” WSP-CP361 and 381 follow Woosim’s compact and lightweight design philosophy and have been designed to simply drop into your own bespoke housing or enclosure.
There are four basic models all designed to take a high capacity paper roll, either a 60mm outer diameter (WSP-CP261/361) with a maximum possible roll length of 45m or 80mm outer diameter (WSP-CP281/381) with a maximum roll length of approximate 80m making them some of the highest capacity thermal panel printers currently available. Common to all models is their super-fast print speed of 200mm/sec producing printouts almost instantaneously, typically this print speed is normally only seen on desktop POS receipt printers. An integrated autocutter or guillotine with both partial and full cut options further reduces the time to ticket as the paper is presented without the need to tear off. A high resolution of 203dpi (8 dots/mm) and 432 dots/line on the 2”, 54mm print width models and the 576 dots/line, 72mm print width, 3” versions produce high quality text, graphics and barcodes (including QR codes). The printers come with either an industry standard UART (RS232 or TTL) or a true USB (non-virtual) interface offering good communication flexibility and are all powered by a 24VDC supply.
The printer’s electronic hardware is based around a 32bit RISC processor and incorporates 8MB of FLASH RAM and 16MB of RAM plus a large receive buffer of 1MB giving the printer the ability to handle demanding and complex printing tasks. A self-diagnostics routine and the ability for in-field re-programming to upgrade firmware and install new fonts and bit-image logo’s makes the task of maintenance and upgrades simple. Software drivers are available for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 both the 32bit and 64bit versions plus Win CE and Windows Mobile, Linux and Android OS drivers are also available.
