Sir Hossein Yassaie, CEO of Imagination Technologies, has received the Contribution to Industry award at the 2014 annual NMI Electronic Systems Awards.
Derek Boyd, NMI CEO, presenting the award to Sir Hossein Yassaie, said: “When selecting people for this award, our focus is on someone who goes beyond the call of duty in leading an activity solely for the good of the industry as a whole. This year’s award winner epitomises that.
“Quite often that person is someone we regard as an unsung hero, but, this year, our winner is very highly regarded. This person is one of the busiest men around but still makes time to serve on the ESCO Council.”
Dyson won the award for Company of the Year. Judges commended their plans to double the size of their UK research centre and the success of their 360 Eye robotic vacuum cleaner.
Presenting the award Derek Boyd said, “Tonight we honour a company whose success we can all celebrate in 2014, a company which can be held up as an exemplar – to inspire others and symbolise the ever increasing value of electronics to our economy, industry and society.”
Notable among the other hotly-contested categories was the NMI Young Engineer of the Year Award, which was won by James Pallister from Embecosm
