QA Systems tools automate unit testing, code coverage, integration testing and static analysis to optimise safety and business critical embedded software and accelerate standards compliance. All tools are independently certified by SGS TüV for use in developing software for safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62304, EN 50128, and IEC 60880), and qualifiable for standards such as DO-178B/C. QA Systems was founded in 1996 by CEO and racing driver, Andreas Sczepansky. The company operates across Europe and through a global reseller network, with over 350 blue chip customers.

Cantata, is QA Systems unit and integration testing tool, which enables developers to verify standard compliant or business critical code on host native and embedded target platforms. Cantata is integrated with an extensive set of embedded development toolchains, from compilers to build and requirements management tools. The ECLIPSE® GUI, tight tool integrations and tests written in the source C/C++ code, all make Cantata easy to use.

Cantata 8.0 Unit and Integration Testing Solution for C & C++ Now Certified for Safety Critical Software Development

QA System’s 8.0 version of Cantata has been certified by SGS-TÜV as ‘usable in the development of safety related software’ for all main safety standards up to their highest safety integrity levels. SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH are the leading independent third-party certification body for functional safety and are accredited by Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS).

Cantata 8.0 has been certified up to the highest integrity level for the following safety standards:

  • IEC 61508:2010 (general industrial)
  • ISO 26262:2011 (automotive)
  • EN 50128:2011 (railways)
  • IEC 60880:2006 (nuclear power)
  • IEC 62304:2006 (medical devices)

product manager Pierre-Henri Stanek, commented “I am pleased to announce the certification of Cantata version 8.0. This is the 7th version of Cantata to be certified and contains some great new features for development of safety critical software.” This version automates test maintenance, custom code injection, and makes it easier to test across multiple embedded environments.

One of the highlights of this version, is a new Code Change Analysis feature that has been added to cut test maintenance when C/C++ code is changed after initial testing. This identifies code changes which impact tests and provides detailed guidance on suitable test updates. Automatically generated suggestions can be selected, triggering automatic test refactoring for many types of code change.

When code is re-used over multiple embedded platforms for different product variants, new deployment switching in Cantata version 8.0 makes it simple to re-use the same tests. It is also now possible to inject extra test code anywhere into source code without modifying the production code.  This provides greater flexibility for injecting errors and white-box testing.

Cantata 8.0 is available from the QA Systems Website or by contacting sales@qa-systems.com. You can also download a guide to ‘What’s New in 8.0’ here.
