Panasonic’s latest pyroelectric infrared (PIR) motion sensor called “slight motion detection type” impresses, through a very small optic (Ø14.60mm), a circular detection area of 7.60m at a typical installation height of 3m, 112 detection zones and an outstanding sensitivity.

The sensor is designed to detect small movements such as that of a human head. The high number of detection zones in combination with the fact that each zone can trigger the sensor individually is the key for a reliable detection.

The incredibly small size of the lens guarantees an unobtrusive and aesthetic product integration, for example into lighting control units and HVAC devices (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning).

Also the excellent thermal stability is a key factor when it comes to simple and reliable integration into smart luminaires and LED bulbs.

Thanks to the outstanding sensitivity it is the perfect passive infrared sensor for environments such as offices, meeting rooms, or waiting rooms.

The pyroelectric sensor complements the PaPIRs families EKMC and EKMB and is ideal for both battery-free and battery-operated devices. The “plug and play” concept and the modular portfolio with 11 different optics ensure maximum design flexibility. Designers can choose the optimal solution for each individual application without time-consuming and complicated redesign.
