We’ve been supporting the design of optoelectronic products and systems for over 25 years. Our specialist portfolio includes information display panels, IR sensing, low light level detection, UV LEDs or IR sources, laser components, optics and spectroscopy solutions. We can also design and build custom components and assemblies at our UK-based Design Centre.

Infrared Sensing and Detection

Infrared detectors such as thermopiles and pyrodetectors are used for environmental controls, gas sensing, motion detection, intrusion alarms, air conditioning, thermometry, healthcare and general purpose non-contact temperature measurement. Thermopile arrays and integrated modules are available, and newer variants have digital interfaces and very small surface mount package options.

Pacer offers high performance infrared (IR) detectors, near infrared (NIR) and medium wavelength (MWIR) detectors and accessories from New Infrared Technologies. This detector range enables very fast, low cost and low power consumption MWIR detector systems, for use in weld process monitoring, quality inspection in manufacturing, gas detection and spectroscopy, flame detection, hot-box inspection and defence applications.

 

Low Light Level Detection

Avalanche photodiodes (APDs) provide higher sensitivity than standard photodiodes – ideal for extreme low-level detection and photon counting, APDs are generally recommended for high bandwidth applications or where internal gain is needed to overcome high preamplifier noise. Our Silicon APDs and InGaAs APDs provide detection from 400nm – 1100nm. Multiple configurations are available to provide a wide range of sensitivity and speed options. Additional pre-amplifier and filter options are available to tailor the APD to meet specific requirements.

For the ultimate in low light level detection, the single photon counting module (SPCM) detects single photons of light over the 400nm – 1060nm wavelength range – a range and sensitivity that often outperforms a photomultiplier tube. A key strength is the peak photon detection efficiency of up to 80% @ 700 nm, with selections for various wavelengths available. Typical applications for these single photon detector modules include LIDAR, Photon-Correlation Spectroscopy, Astronomical Observation, Optical Range Finding, Adaptive Optics, Ultra-Sensitive Fluorescence and Particle Sizing.

LEDs and Light Sources

On the emission side, we supply specialist industrial IR and UV LEDs and high emissivity IR sources.

We offer both UVA and UVC LEDs. Applications for UV emitters range from chromatography, photolithography and curing of various resins to biological studies, environmental monitoring, purification of water, medical diagnostics, disinfection, instrumentation and life sciences.

IR LEDs are often used together with IR sensors  and the application range is wide – security, proximity sensing, thermal imaging, medical diagnostics, fire detection, gas leak detection and gas monitoring, industrial process control, pollution monitoring, and real-time combustion control.  

Axetris IR sources are suited to compact IR gas detection modules where a high emissivity, high reliability and low power consumption are key requirements.

Laser Components and Systems

Our laser components portfolio includes diode lasers, laser modules, pulsed lasers, laser modules with integrated smart electronics and temperature control, telecom and datacom lasers, high performance highly stable lasers for instrumentation, Raman lasers and carbon dioxide lasers.

Information Displays

We offer display panels and modules covering a host of different display technologies.

TFT LCD and mono LCD displays are the popular, tried and tested solutions for a wealth of industrial and commercial display applications. Smart TFTs feature built-in control, making design into a product or system much easier. Our TFT modules are fully supported with a variety of options including wide operating temperatures, high brightness and contrast, built-in DC-DC and temperature compensation circuitry and most with white LED backlights. Resistive Touchscreens and Projected Capacitive Touchscreens are available for most models.

It’s hard to beat OLED displays for sharp images, vibrant colours and the “blackest black”, and their reliability and lifetime have improved greatly, now rivalling that of TFT in some areas. Technologies such as electroluminescent (EL) and vacuum fluorescent displays (VFD) offer the ultimate in reliability and long lifetimes.

Embedded Control

An extensive range of industrial monitors, panel PCs and single board computers complete our embedded solutions portfolio, with rugged IP-rated models to enable you to put together an embedded system for any environment.

Custom Design and Build

At our dedicated Design and Build Centre in Weymouth , our experienced team provides design, customisation, prototyping, test and manufacturing services for optoelectronic projects and display assemblies.

We have in-house electronic, optical and mechanical design expertise, and can advise on technical as well as commercial aspects of a new project.
