January 29, 2015 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. today announced the introduction of their updated Audio Applications site. This updated applications site provides audio systems developers with the resources they need to learn about the latest advances in audio applications, including the newest components available from Mouser Electronics for building leading-edge audio systems.

The updated Audio Applications site, available on Mouser.com, contains even more valuable resources for developers interested in learning about the latest advances in audio applications and systems. The Applications section contains two new block diagrams. The first is the Digital Radio block diagram. A digital radio transmitter converts sound into digital code, which is transmitted to a digital radio receiver which decodes and filters all but the digital signal. This results in better sound quality while providing resistance to noise and interference. The Compressor Limiter block diagram explains the basic operation of a compressor, including how it compresses the dynamic range of an audio signal by reducing the volume of loud sounds while amplifying quieter sounds. Each block diagram explains how these systems operate, with links to the newest components used in the systems available from Mouser Electronics.

The Articles section contains three new articles Sound Solutions for Wireless Audio discusses how radio has evolved, from high voltage spark gaps, to vacuum tubes, to high fidelity and finally to digital radio. Designing Wheel-Tuned, Digital-Display Radios with Next-Generation Radio ICs explains why despite the advances of the digital revolution, tuning dial radios are still popular and can be designed and developed using components available from Mouser Electronics. The last paper is The Mathematics of Log-Based Dynamic Audio Processors A dynamic audio processor varies its gain to suit the requirements of the applied audio signal. Dynamic processors include compressors, expanders, noise gates, and similar devices.

Last, the Featured Products section focuses on key products available from Mouser.com that speed and enhance the design of audio systems. Some of the newest products include the Texas Instruments PCM5242 Stereo DAC and the Silicon Labs Si468x Single-Chip Digital Radio Receivers.
