Choosing a round display for your next project could really set your product apart from the competition. No longer is it necessary to use a circular cut out in your fascia or bezel placed over a 4:3 aspect ratio display to create the perfectly round image your product needs or desires. Our 2.1” and 2.8” round TFT displays have been available for a while but now with the introduction of capacitive touch versions we believe there are more opportunities for OEM products within the industrial, medical and auto/aero markets now able to benefit from these tactile, modern looking, aesthetically pleasing displays.
The two new round models, 2.1” (KD021WVFPD003-C001A) & 2.8” (KD028WXFPD057-C040A) both utilise the latest IPS TFT technology, offering ultra-wide viewing angles of 85°/85°/85°/85° and can be viewed from any direction without the loss of image colour or quality. A 480(RGB)x480 resolution is also common to both sizes as is a 500cd/m² brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 16.7M colour palette all combining to produce an excellent optical performance in both indoor and outdoor applications. Both displays have an optically bonded capacitive 5-point multi-touch with an I²C interface and give users single touch or the pinch and pull functionality they are familiar with on their smartphone. Also common to both models is the Sitronix ST7701S controller IC which provides flexible interfacing either via serial 3-SPI or 16, 18 or 24 Bit RGB.
Physically both displays are very compact and lightweight, the 2.1” has an active area of 53.28(H) x 53.28(V)mm (diameter 53.28mm) with overall dimensions of 70.61(H) x 72.61(V) x 3.39(D)mm weighing just 21g, with the 2.8” display having an active area of 70.13(H) x 70.13(V)mm (diameter 70.13mm), overall dimensions of 87.73(H) x 89.73(V) x 3.39(D)mm and weighing just 34g.
