M-style connectors are categorised by the size of the threaded locking nut; these include M8, and M12 connectors. Tough and robust, these waterproof, circular screw connectors are the de-facto standard in the process industry for reliable automated connections: protected to IP67. M8/M12 connectors provide a future-proof interface that supports higher-bandwidth needs, meeting the requirements of up to 10GB/s. All the leading BUS protocols are also available.

M12 connectors may also be coded. The common used keyed types are:

A-Coded; used in CAN-Bus, DeviceNet (DeviceNet Picture)

B-Coded; used to prevent mating with standard sensor A coding and in field buses like Profibus DP

D-Coded; 4 pole used with Industrial Ethernet & Profinet. Ethernet M12 plugs and jacks with 100 MHz (Profinet picture)

X-Coded; 8 pole used in 10 Gbps Ethernet acc. to IEEE 802.3 CAT 6A –  X-Coded connectors are ideal for industrial network applications in harsh environments. It is possible to transmit up to 10 Gbp/s and the X-coding design conforms to IEC 61076-2-109. Overmoulded male M12 double-ended cordsets and male M12 to male RJ45 CAT6A cordsets are currently available. All cordsets are available in standard 2, 3, 5 and 10 meter lengths. Suitable for Power over Ethernet (PoE, PoE plus, and UPoE)

Bus Systems

Bus technology has advanced in industrial automation. The connectors required for data transmission are very BUS-specific. To access the complex world of Bus technology, Conec offers connectors for Profibus DP and Industrial Ethernet.

Profibus is a manufacturer-dependent, open fieldbus system for a variety of applications in manufacturing, processing and building automation.

Industrial Ethernet is the general term for all applications that use the Ethernet standard to network devices used in industrial automation. In industrial applications, networks must operate without interruption under extreme conditions, e.g. electromagnetic interference, very high constant temperatures as well as high mechanical specifications. X-Coded Industrial Ethernet closes the circle, as it were, and creates a complete infrastructure, which stretches from the office to the machinery or even to the sensor.

For both bus systems, In2Connect offers special M12x1 connectors with corresponding coding which meets the guidelines of the PNO (Profibus User Organisation) and the IEC 61076-2-101 Ad. 1. The coding used for these products (B and D coding) prevent incorrect connections using standard M12x1 components.

Short time-to-market requirements and high cost pressure make it necessary to build systems quickly, flexibly and reliably: the CONEC M12 field attachable connector with crimp connection offers the appropriate solution and is available in A, B, D, and X coding. The turned crimp contacts can take stranded wire cross-sections from AWG 28 to AWG 22 (for X-coding) and from AWG 24 to AWG 18 (for A-, B- and D-coding) and are thus suitable for a wide range of commercial industrial data cables. These machined crimp contacts provide a reliable and gas-tight connection to the stranded wire which ensures constant low resistance even in extreme conditions. In addition, the female connectors are also available with so-called closed entry contacts offering an additional plug-in security of the socket contacts. The crimp contacts can be processed with commercially available crimping tool and machinery; however, the X-coded version requires a specific CONEC crimping tool plus selector. M12 Crimp connectors are protected against loosening due to vibrations during operation by a tactile vibration lock. The connector shell is entirely made of metal and therefore fully shielded. The connectors are designed for cable diameter of 4.5 to 8.3 mm and are 360° shielded.

Junction systems

Y junction boxes from CONEC with 5 pin connectors enable you to lay two incoming signals together at one E/A socket. This means that you can double your connection options for one actuator/ sensor box. (M12_M8 Y Splitter picture)

You can connect up to 16 initiators using one M12x1 junction box with 8 E/A sockets (M12x1 Break out box picture). Overmoulded components are also available for the output connection to the sensor. This provides a cost-effective and practical wiring system in the field for sensors and actuators with a cabling system that meets protection class IP67. Junction boxes are used anywhere sensor and actuator signals need to be extended quickly and easily for connection to their superordinate control systems. Individual signals are either connected directly to the superordinate system via a homerun cable or via a connection interface. Optional LED displays for signal and power reduce the effort required to track down errors.

Our product portfolio of passive distribution components has been expanded to include some new variants. In addition to the previously existing versions of Duo-splitter, i.e. T-splitter, a new Y-splitter line has been developed. This series provides a cost-effective and practical wiring system in the field for sensors and actors with a cabling system that meets protection class IP67. Junction systems are used anywhere sensor and actor signals need to be extended quickly and easily for connection to their superordinate control systems. Individual signals are either connected directly to the superordinate system via a homerun cable or via a connection interface.

Costs of wiring will be reduced and due to the pre-assembly connection faults can be excluded. A central mounting hole for M3 screws ensures secure attachment in the field. Many popular circuit layouts are available.
