The innovative KJAYA hermetically-sealed connector series from leading global connector manufacturer and supplier, ITT Interconnect Solutions, is a low-cost interconnect designed for off-road vehicles which need to withstand low pressure water environments, such as fording streams. It can be seen at eCarTec on Stand 318.
Featuring lightweight aluminium shells and copper alloy contacts, KJAYA hermetic interconnects utilise a special sealant and are designed to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-810 method 512.5. The use of these materials results in a connector which is sealed against water ingress to IP67 standards and can withstand water pressure of 15 PSI, yet is half the weight of traditional Mil-DTL-38999 hermetic connectors, which have heavy stainless steel shells. Able to withstand an operating temperature range of -40deg.C to +125deg.C, the KJAYA series is ideal for many electric and hybrid vehicle on- and off-road applications.
The KJAYA hermetic connector is available in all standard Mil-DTL-38999 insert patterns and in wall and jam-nut mounting receptacles in sizes 9 to 25. Copper-based contacts provide for reduced electrical resistance. Two termination versions are offered – PC tail and poke home crimp contacts. Drop-in PC tail enables fast termination to PCB or flex circuitry, while the crimp version which utilizes standard M39029/57 short socket contacts for quick cable termination and standardization brings the added benefit of helping reduce inventory.
