Mouser Electronics, the global authorised distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the BME280 Humidity and Pressure Sensor from Bosch Sensortec. The BME280 combines a digital humidity sensor, pressure sensor, and temperature sensor in one package. This sensor provides an extremely fast response time and high overall accuracy over a wide temperature range.       

The Bosch Sensortec BME280 Humidity and Pressure Sensor, available from Mouser Electronics, is an integrated environmental sensor developed specifically for mobile applications where size and power consumption are critical design parameters. The BME280 combines three environmental sensors in a small 2.5mm2 package and draws as little as 100nA in sleep mode. The humidity sensor responds quickly and accurately to changes in ambient humidity from zero to 100%. The pressure sensor measures absolute barometric pressure from 300 to 1100hPa with an accuracy of ±1.0hPa with very low noise. The integrated temperature sensor measures ambient temperature from -40 to +85°C within one degree of accuracy. The temperature sensor is also used for temperature compensation of the integrated humidity and pressure sensors.       

The BME280 supports three power modes: Sleep, Normal, and Forced. In Sleep mode, no measurements are performed and power consumption is at a minimum. In Normal mode measurements are automated and the device cycles into Sleep mode when no measurements are required. In Forced mode a single measurement is performed according to configured options. The device can be configured by both SPI and I2C interfaces at a 10MHz data rate.       

The BME280 targets portable devices such as medical systems, automotive navigation equipment, and Internet of Things.
