A new floor-standing enclosure has been released by Verotec that is rated at 750kg static load capacity and gives in excess of 80dB attenuation at 100MHz and 40dB at 1GHz. The company’s VERAK enclosure is available in heights from 27 to 42U, and widths and depths of 600 and 800mm and is ideal for the communications, industrial networking and electronics sectors as it provides both IP65 environmental protection and EMC screening.
The enclosure features a stainless steel EMC gasket designed in-house by the company. This gives the advantages of an easy to close door as the gasket does not have to be heavily compressed during the closing process. A swing handle controls a four-point over-centre cam closure that exerts the correct pressure on the gaskets, avoiding over-compression. The closing mechanism reduces the effort needed to close the door and the roller/cam action pulls the door tight without excessive leverage being required. As the gasket is subjected to minimal compression, the sealing and screening performance does not degrade over time with repeated door openings.
This enclosure is available with steel or glass front and rear doors and with plain or ventilated top covers and bases. The ventilated covers support forced or natural convection cooling without reducing the rack’s EMC performance.
Cables can be brought into the rack from the top or base and also through 5U or 10U high recessed cable entry panels, fitted above or below shortened front or rear doors. The removable screened gland plates provide a cable entry facility without compromising the EMC performance.
