The range of fiber products available from AMS Technologies comprises fibers and fiber assemblies as well as a variety of fiber-based components. Single fibers and assemblies are available in many different configurations: multimode, single mode and polarization maintaining, with or without connectors, standard or tailor-made. The optical spectrum ranges from the UV across the visible range to the NIR, the thermal operation spectrum from -269 to +700°C, the power spectrum from a few milliwatts to a multitude of watts.

Metal coated/buffered fibers were originally developed for ultra-high reliability telecommunications applications. The metal coating preserves the high initial mechanical strength and provides resistance against static fatigue (the failure under long term tensile loading), and in particular Aluminum, a hermetic coating to the fiber. In addition to high strength, metal coated fibers can be used at very high temperatures. Aluminum coated optical fibers have a rated operating range of -269°C to +400°C. Tight buffered Gold coated fibers have a rated operating range of -269°C to +700°C.

The portfolio of fiber-based components includes wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs), circulators, fiber-optic delivery systems as well as fixed and adjustable attenuators, among others. We also provide an extensive choice of couplers: power combiners, tap couplers, wavelength combiners/splitters, multimode, single mode and polarization maintaining couplers. Furthermore, we supply isolators that can be free space and fiber pigtailed, that are useable over a broad range of wavelengths and that can handle powers up to 80 watts.

Fiberoptic Bundles are custom packaged assemblies of optical fibers which deliver light energy from a source to one or more objects. Fibers are selected for operating at wavelengths from UV through the near IR. End configuration can be round or rectangular with any aspect ratio. Bundles can be multiple leg with any termination arrangement, any length and any type of sheathing. Fibers can be mapped to provide specific direction of pixels to the distal end. Bundles can operate in hostile environments including temperatures as high as 750°C.
