Electronics Today Value Added Distributing with a difference. Why working with a value added distributor, can help you get the memory components you need this year..

At Nexus, we distribute memory.  Secure memory.  Memory trusted by military organisations all over the world, memory that stands the test of time, and memory that can survive in the harshest environments known to man.

But if you were to put us in the “distributor” box, you’d be making a mistake.

You see, memory is plentiful.  Head online, Google what you’re looking for, and after a while you’ll probably bump into someone who distributes the kind of memory you’re after.

But that’s where it ends.  You click to buy, or you ring them up, and they’ll send you the memory.  Case closed.

A value-added distributor like Nexus is different.  We partner with our clients, using our industry experience and engineering knowledge to ensure that you get the right memory product for your application, that it will do what it needs to do, and that it’ll stand the test of time.

Value-added distribution – a real-life example.

We recently had a real-life example of the power of value-added distribution:

A Nexus customer purchased two SlimLink II readers, where the product is a stand-alone programmer for memory tokens and connects to a host pc via a standard USB port.

Secure memory Distributing with a difference.As a courtesy, we wanted to check the customer had everything they needed but their company policy did not allow them to discuss their projects;

However, they then ran into few technical problems and began asking us questions.

After jumping through a few hoops to allow the sharing of information, we learned they had been dismantling the readers to embed within their product, and that point we immediately realised that a Unitroller II would be a more effective way of achieving what they were after, without the technical problems.

A Unitroller II is a single-board interface unit that also accepts tokens and interfaces via USB. It costs less than a SlimLink II reader and there’s no dismantling required to embed it into a product.

They followed our recommendation, and as a result, they saved time and money, and got hold of the product quickly, as the Unitroller II board has a short lead time.

This is value-added distribution at work – working with a company like Nexus means that you don’t just get the product shipped to you; you get everything you need to ensure that it does what it needs to and adds maximum value to you.

Partnering with a value-added distributor can also help you overcome supply chain issues.

I’m sure you’re well aware of the NAND chip shortage, which has caused havoc for organisations all over the world.

It was the pandemic that originally forced the factories to shut and resulted in a supply deficit.

And since chips are in – well – pretty much everything, that caused a global issue:

Car manufacturers, computer engineers, you name it, everyone wanted NAND chips, which meant that you could find yourself at the back of the queue through no fault of your own.

As the pandemic eased, the hope was that things would go back to ‘normal’ again, but then the war in Ukraine began.

Ukraine supply 70% of the world’s neon, which is vital for the production of…you guessed it…NAND chips.

The long and short of it is this: we’re still in a NAND chip deficit, and the result is that designers and manufacturers are struggling to get hold of the chips they need.

And in many cases, the chips they ARE able to get hold of are substandard.

If this sounds familiar, we can help.

Our suppliers have worked tirelessly to ensure a full range of industrial memory, whatever’s going on in the wider world, which means that where many distributors would just say ‘sorry, we’re out of stock’, we’ll bend over backwards to ensure you get the component you need.

And when you partner with us, we get to know your stock requirements, and will be actively ensuring you have the stock you need to ensure that you don’t run dry.

Come and see for yourself?

If you’re coming to the Southern and Manufacturing Electronics Show in Farnborough on 7th to 9th February this year, we’d love to see you – we’re exhibiting at Stand C75.

The Show is completely free, and we’ll be on hand to demonstrate our products, and talk about your requirements, so you can see for yourself why companies all over the world trust Nexus to deliver for them.
