A Robotics Contest has been launched by Atmel through the company’s University Program.
University students 18 years or older in Europe, North America and South America are invited to develop a battery-powered 3D version of the company’s robot: ‘Mel’ using Arduino’s 4WD platform and components from Atmel.
Six finalists will be invited to demonstrate their robots’ capabilities at the company’s 2012 Technology Live (ATL) developer conference in San Jose, CA, September 11-13, 2012.
At the event judges will select three winners based on the students’ ability to bring ‘Mel’ to life as an innovative robot that can perform specified tasks.
Judging criteria includes: Uniqueness and elegance of design, Robustness and fault tolerance of the controlling software, How fast the robot can complete a defined task and Accuracy of defined tasks.
