Available now – this cleverly designed transceiver is the latest in the LPRS range of “easyRadio” modules. “easy” because they incorporate the embedded easyRadio protocol which means you don’t have to write your own communication code; Clever because eRIC uses system on chip (SOC) technology so an external processor is not required. This saves not only space but also reduces the cost of your design. Uniquely, the chip has been divided, giving 50% to the easyRadio configurable settings and communication software, leaving the rest available for engineers to add their own application code. In other words you can take advantage of the quick and easy set up commands and immediate communication of the easyRadio protocol or you can add your own code – we have made that easy too!

eRIC is a high performance easy to use transceiver – versatile, small, loaded with features and incredibly cost friendly. Richard Hathaway richard.hathaway@lprs.co.uk LPRS Product Manager is waiting to hear from you to discuss your applications and provide you with your eRIC development kit.

The eRIC transceiver is intended for embedded high-volume applications in the “Smart” or “IoT” arena including; building and lighting control, security, home monitoring, medical products, vehicle and contents monitoring, renewable energy control and remote sensor systems.

eRIC operates in the ISM frequency bands (Europe 433 and 868MHz, USA 315 and 915MHz), meets ETSI and FCC requirements, has pin interface compatibility with existing easyRadio Advance (eRA) products, has a simple to use and customer configurable and programmable I/O interface, is designed for low power operation from batteries and has a built-in temperature sensor.

eRIC has been designed to simplify end product manufacture and is packaged for SMD assembly, measuring just 20x15x5mm.

Despite its small size and low cost eRIC still offers many advanced features including; secure communications using optional AES 128 bit data encryption, received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and carrier detect, network ID and digital channel select (DCS).

John Sharples, Managing Director of LPRS, comments, “We are very excited by the introduction of our new eRIC product. It builds on our many years of experience of supplying easyRadio wireless modules, incorporates a lot of useful customer ideas and will be a significant product introduction into the high-volume wireless control and communication markets. eRIC like its predecessors will still allow its users the ability to configure operating frequency, bandwidth, output power, and data-rate ensuring multiple devices can communicate free from interference with each other and other nearby RF devices.”

Modules and development kits are now available.
