Leeds, United Kingdom – 16 October 2024: Employees at Farnell’s global head office in Leeds have successfully completed a second annual charity Pub Walk, helping to raise thousands of pounds for Wakefield Hospice in memory of a much-loved colleague.
Farnell employees joined the family and friends of Paul Johnson, alongside 400 hospice supporters, to participate in the five-mile Pub Walk, which included stops at nine pubs across Horbury, West Yorkshire.
Thanks to Farnell’s sponsorship and fundraising efforts alongside pub donations and further fundraising activity, this year’s event raised £31,000 for hospice care. When added to the £25,000 raised in 2023, this means a staggering total in excess of £56,000 has been raised in just two years.
Paul Johnson, who joined Farnell in 2005 and held several roles, including Vice President of Farnell Information Systems, was cared for by Wakefield Hospice before he sadly passed away in 2023. Farnell has since been proud supporters of this annual event, using it as an opportunity to honour Paul’s memory and give thanks to the hospice that provided compassionate care for him and his family.
Natalie Greenhough, Farnell Demand Planning Manager SBC, said: “The incredible service that Wakefield Hospice provides cannot be underestimated and it will forever hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew Paul Johnson. We were delighted to see so many Farnell colleagues come together to support this incredible cause and we hope to continue this fantastic relationship between our two organisations for years to come.”
Alex Cunniff, Event Fundraiser at Wakefield Hospice, added, “We were delighted by the response to the second annual Wakefield Hospice Pub Walk, in what is already becoming a highlight of the year. Thank you again to Farnell for their incredible support—your fundraising efforts mean the world to us.”
