America II Inc, one of the world’s largest distributors of semiconductors and electronic components has experienced aggressive growth in Europe a year since it officially communicated a shift in its distribution model.

Timed with its 25th birthday which America II celebrated in 2014, the global distributor decided to evolve its offering and expand its products and services from a franchise lines perspective. The driving factor behind America II’s decision was its desire to better serve customers across all segments, including the medical and automotive industries where product lifecycles are generally longer.

This shift was well-received when it was communicated to European customers and partners last year. A year on, America II’s decision is paying dividends both in terms of the distributor’s size and revenue.

Since January 2016, America II’s franchise lines have doubled, with the addition of Antistat Inc., Cliff Electronics, IQD Frequency Products and others to its global line card. The distributor’s focus on quality, coupled with its ‘customer-first’ approach, has seen it add multiple lines of each technology to ensure plenty of choice. Although America II’s diverse offering has also attracted more high-end customers, it continues to cater to its middle-tier customers – many of which have been neglected by larger distributors.

Jed Pecchioli, President of APAC and EMEA Operations, America II, commented: “Our customers have always appreciated our combination of open-market and franchise capabilities and our willingness to give OEMs of all sizes the attention they deserve from their distribution partner. In spite of fears of the UK’s exit from the EU last week, we believe that the outlook and market opportunities for us remain strong.

Our expanded range of franchise lines, along with the imminent launch of a number of value-add services including failure analysis and engineering design capabilities, means that we’re now in a better position to support our customers than ever before”.

The success of America II’s repositioning has already been publically recognised in Global Purchasing’s Top Distributors of 2016 list where it was ranked #15. For America II, the rest of 2016 is about continuing to grow its franchise lines and increasing its field presence across Europe to deliver its customers with the quality of service that they have come to expect.
