Optimise fan power consumption, reduce noise and increase lifetime with a four fan PWM controller. Enclosure cooling fans need to cope with ‘worst case’ heat generation, but don’t always need to run at full power. PWM control allows the fan’s speed to be optimised during the equipment’s operating cycle – reducing power consumption and fan noise whilst increasing fan life.

Sanyo Denki’s San Ace PWM development kit and separate PWM control boards from EAO Ltd allow designers to test and optimise their cooling system using; a control voltage, a potentiometer or a thermistor. Each unit is powered by the DC fan voltage and drives up to four Sanyo Denki DC fans. Click here for datasheet

The axial and centrifugal fans available in sizes between from 38mm to 225mm provide best in class airflow and static pressure. Click here to see the range on offer from EAO Ltd

Multi-function PWM development kit

The fully enclosed 9PC8666X-S001 is ideal for prototyping and offers three control options; external thermistor, variable voltage (0-5VDC) or variable resistor control, and comes with a built-in internal adjustment knob to set the target temperature or the duty cycle. The unit is powered by the DC fan voltage of 12V, 24V or 48V and drives up to four fans.

This compact unit measures 86mm x 66mm x 38mm and has four mounting holes and a DIN rail fitting

The different PWM control function can be set using a four way DIP switch and PWM signal levels can be set to 3.5VDC or 5VDC. Connect easily using screw terminal connections.

Single Function Four Fan Controller

The three different PCB type controllers each offer a different control scheme; either voltage, thermistor or variable resistor control.

Each of the PCB versions has four M3 mounting holes and easy lever operated cage clamp wire connections. The input side has the connections for the DC power supply and the control element, which is either a 0-5VDC control voltage, a variable resistor or an NTC thermistor. The output terminals provide the fan power and the PWM signal.

Features of Sanyo Denki PWM controllers:
