Mouser Electronics and the Dragon Racing Formula E Team are now heading into the fourth race of the FIA Formula E all-electric car racing series – this time in Argentina at the Buenos Aires ePrix. Mouser is sponsoring the Formula E team, along with its valued supplier partners Molex and Panasonic.
With three races behind them, the team is now in the hunt for the Formula E Championship. The Mouser-backed team is now ranked 3rd overall, moving up two positions following a stunning 3-4 finish on December 19th in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Loic Duval, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013, finished 4th in Uruguay, just fractions of a second behind European Formula Master Champion Jerome D’Ambrosio.
This is the second year that Mouser Electronics, the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is sponsoring Formula E racing.
With just weeks before the Buenos Aires ePrix, set for February 6th, team preparations already are in high gear. As these veteran drivers speed toward victory, their cars Number 6 (Duval) and Number 7 (D’Ambrosio) are sporting prominent Mouser branding, along with branding from Mouser’s valued supplier partners, Molex and Panasonic.
Formula E is a new global racing series from Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body for world motor sports. Formula E features cars powered exclusively by electric energy and represents a vision for the future of the motor sports industry over the coming decades, serving as a framework for research and development around the electric vehicle, accelerating general interest in these cars and promoting sustainability.
“Like Mouser, Formula E is on the leading edge of new technologies,” said Todd McAtee, Vice President of Americas, Business Development for Mouser Electronics. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Dragon Racing and be supporting a high-tech sport that is paving the way for future automotive technologies. This kind of high-tech auto racing provides the perfect platform to raise awareness for Mouser and our industry-leading partners, Molex and Panasonic.”
After the Buenos Aires ePrix, six more races are planned for the 2015-2016 season. Next the team will travel to Mexico for the Mexico City ePrix on March 12. That will be followed by races in: Long Beach, California on April 2; Paris, France on April 23; Berlin, Germany on May 21; Moscow, Russia on June 4; and London, UK on July 2 and 3.
